Cllr David Over - Barnack

(Including, Helpston, Bainton, Barnack, Ufford, Southorpe, Worthorpe and St Martin’s Without)

I have been a City Councillor for nearly 20 years and have thoroughly enjoyed representing this rural ward.  I have lived in the area for 30 years and taught in Peterborough and north Cambridgeshire. I gained my PhD from the University of Leicester. I am married to Jackie, who also teaches and has a huge musical interest in the area. I have two adult children, Kate and Tim.

For the last 10 years I have been Chair of the Rural Commission which looks after the rural areas of the city. I did have a break when I was elected Mayor in 2014-15.  This was a huge honour and gave me the opportunity to meet so many people within the city and further afield.

I am committed to ensuring the ‘Rural Voice’ is heard in the Town Hall. Working with the Parish Councils, other voluntary organisations and villagers I try to get a fair deal for the villages.

I also enjoy being involved in other local activities. I am a trustee of the Bradfield Trust, which looks after Helpston’Alms Houses, a member of the Fire Authority and on the Audit Committee of the City Council.
