I live in my north of the City ward which, after the 2016 boundary review, includes the nine Parishes of Peakirk, Glinton, Deeping Gate, Northborough, Etton, Maxey, Marholm, Castor and Ailsworth - a geographically large rural ward which is both a pleasure and a privilege to represent, along with my colleague Cllr John Holdich OBE, the Leader of PCC.
Having been the Chairman of our very active Barnack, Northborough and District Branch of the NWCCA for many years I was recently proposed and subsequently elected unanimously to be the Chairman of our Association; responsibilities I and our hard working Executive team take very seriously.
Born and raised in London I spent the majority of my working life there before moving to our NW Cambs area over twenty years ago. Following the sad passing in 2006 of our sitting councillor I retained the marginal Northborough ward for the Conservatives after a very close run contest. We have increased the majority vote substantially in each of the four subsequent elections by working hard for the ward residents and their families, being consistent and always putting their interests before any political dogma.
A PCC Cabinet Member for a number of years, my responsibilities now include strategic housing for our City, our planning service, Peterborough’s growth agenda and economic development. I am also a long-standing member of the council’s Planning and Environmental Protection Committee and both the Licensing Committee and Licensing (Act 2003) Sub Committees. Outside bodies to which I have been appointed and contribute to include the North Level Internal Drainage Board, the Greater Cambs Greater Peterborough Local Transport Body, the Regional Transport Forum and more locally, the Maxey Quarry Liaison Committee and Northborough Community Association.
More recently I have joined the council’s Opportunity Peterborough board and the joint venture companies of our Peterborough Investment Partnership - the facilitator of the Fletton Quays development, the most exciting new growth project for our City since Queensgate Shopping Centre.
